Kona Steel Guitar Festival

Hands-on Opportunities

A Hands-on Opportunities table was set up outside the concert venue adjacent to the vintage Steel Guitar Exhibit. Daniel Tremblay and Bill Thompson gave festival guests a mini-lesson on the steel guitar and showed them how to use finger picks and the slide to manipulate the guitar sounds. Daniel also had on display and used a Joseph Kekuku steel guitar replica that he converted from a standard guitar. Greg Sardinha was so impressed by this guitar that he used it for his performance. The guitar, autographed by all festival musicians, was put on auction at the festival with proceeds going to HIMELE.
